Formations designed and fabricated 2,340 square feet of exhibits honoring traditions and innovations of African Americans of the Pacific Northwest in art, culture, education, and history. Since the days when the very first settlers arrived in the region, African Americans have played a vital part in the Pacific Northwest’s cultural history. The Northwest African American Museum, housed in the historic Colman School building in Seattle’s Central District, is dedicated to the unique experiences of African Americans in the Pacific Northwest, and acts as an important community-gathering place.
