With an emphasis on the museum’s extensive collections, Formations is developing exhibits for the Orientation Gallery of the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. At the center of the Gallery is a stunning sculptural element that represents the diversity, ecology, and evolution of the Museum’s collections and emphasizes the ties between organisms. As visitors learn about various types of collections—from packrats’ nests to “cabinets of curiosity”—they will have many hands-on opportunities to manage and care for collections in the same way a scientist might, including adjusting temperature and humidity, and checking for pests. Visitors will leave the Orientation Gallery with a new appreciation and understanding of the Museum’s collections.
