Northwest African American Museum
Seattle, WA
Design Phase
From the first African Americans to settle in the region in the mid-1800s to the essential contributions they make to Seattle today, African Americans have played a vital part in the Pacific Northwest's cultural history. The Northwest African American Museum, housed in the historic Colman School building in Seattle's Central District, will be dedicated to African Americans' unique experiences in the Pacific Northwest and act as an important community gathering place. Formations will design and fabricate 2,340 square feet of exhibits honoring African Americans' traditions and innovations in art, culture, education, and history in this region.
