The Historic Belmont Firehouse
Portland, OR
Now Open
Design and fabrication of 1,600 sq. ft. of exhibitry for the Historic Belmont Firehouse, a beloved neighborhood landmark and a well-known symbol of Portland's history. This time-honored building was reinvented as an interpretive center and a community meeting place. Details, such as the chewed woodwork where the horse team once was kept, allow visitors to experience the history of the firehouse first-hand. Games and interactives offer past and present views of fire safety and celebrate the firefighters that have helped keep Portland safe.
The exhibit centerpiece is a sophisticated media experience that begins when visitors step into a real-life fire engine cab. When the door is closed, the engine starts up and the windshield begins to display dramatic film footage, taking visitors on 6 separate ride-alongs through Portlandâs Belmont neighborhood.
